San Marco Museum

San Marco Museum

Explore frescoes by Fra Angelico, historic manuscripts, and the serene ambiance of a 15th-century Dominican convent in Florence.
San Marco Museum occupies the former Dominican convent remodelled by Michelozzo for Cosimo de’ Medici in the 15th century. Its greatest treasures are the frescoes painted by Fra Angelico, which still mark the cells, corridors and communal spaces of the convent. The library and manuscripts add further depth to the visit, as does the association with Savonarola. It is one of Florence’s most inward and reflective museums.
