Palazzo Venezia

Palazzo Venezia

A 15th-century Renaissance palace in Rome, featuring a fortified exterior, refined interiors, and a museum showcasing decorative arts and historical artifacts.
Palazzo Venezia, built in the 15th century for the future Pope Paul II, is one of Rome’s earliest Renaissance palaces. Its heavy, almost fortified exterior reflects the transitional character of the period, while its courtyard and interiors are more refined. Later used by Venice and, much later, associated with the Fascist era, the building has accumulated several historical layers. Today its museum adds another dimension through the decorative arts and objects it contains.
