Teatru Manoel, inaugurated in 1732, is among the oldest working theatres in Europe and remains one of Valletta’s most distinguished interiors. The auditorium, with its gilding, painted ceiling and intimate horseshoe shape, has a particular elegance. Commissioned by Grand Master António Manoel de Vilhena, it has hosted opera, drama and concerts across nearly three centuries. The theatre continues to play an important role in Malta’s cultural life.
