Villa Balbianello stands on a wooded promontory on the western shore of Lake Como, with wide views across the water and mountains beyond. Built in the late 18th century for Cardinal Angelo Maria Durini, it is known for its terraced gardens, restrained architecture and long association with notable owners. The villa has been carefully preserved and is now used for visits, events and film shoots. Its setting gives it a particular atmosphere, both cultivated and quietly dramatic.
