Procuratie Vecchie

Procuratie Vecchie

Located on St Mark’s Square, this site features elegant arches and classical architecture, offering a glimpse into Venice's historical and ceremonial heart.
The Procuratie Vecchie line the northern side of St Mark’s Square and once housed the offices and residences of the procurators of San Marco, among the republic’s highest officials. Built from the early 16th century onwards, they help define the architectural order of the piazza through their regular arches and restrained classical rhythm. Their long façade gives the square one of its principal axes. They remain central to the experience of Venice’s ceremonial core.
