Ca’ d’Oro

Ca’ d’Oro

A stunning example of Venetian Gothic architecture on the Grand Canal, featuring Renaissance art and sculpture, offering both architectural and artistic allure.
Ca’ d’Oro, the ‘Golden House’, is one of the finest surviving examples of Venetian Gothic architecture on the Grand Canal. Built in the 15th century for the Contarini family, it once had gilded decoration on its façade, traces of which survive in the name. Today it houses the Giorgio Franchetti collection of Renaissance paintings, sculpture and decorative art. The building is as rewarding for its architecture as for the works it contains.
